Outlook to GMail - bounce?
Posted by: Mekon on 01 September 2004
I've been using GMail loader to dump the thousands of work messages I need to retain when I move jobs into GMail. I understand Eudora and Thunderbird can bounce emails straight there, but I am tied to Outlook for the PDA stuff. Can Outlook be made to bounce stuff, or am I stuck with the clunky GMail loader?

No idea.
What do you think of Gmail so far? My account's been mostly idle aside from a few "test" messages with friends, etc.

As an aside, don't know about GMail but for interweb access to my mail I use Oddpost which is not only ace but a genunely astonishing example of DHTML/Javascript programming. It really does work like a proper POP3 client complete wiht right click menus, drap and drop, tree controls, etc. etc.
Sadly it's IE only (not a problem from work which is where i use it) and just got sold to Yahoo where it will form the basis of their anti-GMail offering so they are no longer accepting new accounts.

I've not tried the label or filter stuff, but the conversation feature (like outlook's view by topic feature) is tidy, and the search functions are phenomenally quick. I used to have to do the searches locally in Outlook, and there is no comparison.
As a bonus Outlook works much better without a bloated .pst file as well.
