photo al***, take II

The search engine isn't working and the original album thread is now buried several layers deep in the bowels of the Padded Cell, so I've started a new album. This thread is for all the photographers out there -- both pro and amateur -- who'd like to show their work, get constructive criticism, and waste as much of Naim's bandwidth as possible per post.
Here's my first entry -- a straightforward B&W portrait of a friend.

Comments welcomed. I haven't been doing this for long, so feel free to give me a kicking.

The weekend before last I spent in Tokaj in Hungary, as magical a wine place as I have encountered.
This was sunrise on the second day.

P.S. Gary -- about posting digital art... fine by me. Pixels are pixels, so as long as they're plenty arsty and just a little bit fartsy I don't see why not.

nodrog,
That first shot is stunning, not that the second one isn't good, too. But that first one... man, you nailed it.
(I'm gonna go sulk now...)

I'll offer up this one, albeit taken by my wife (who's not as technically capable as I am, but has better artistic vision) . It's nicely framed, the colors are wonderful, and ultimately, I think it captures the moment.

nodrog,
Which shrine is this?
Looks awfully familiar to me, but can't place where it is.

It's the scene from 2010, when David Bowman appears on the Discovery...

Assuming you're referring to the his birth, I would have to disagree. People are always saying, "They grow up so fast." For me, his birth seemed like a very long time ago. So many things have happened/changed along the way. If anything, time has slowed down significantly, compared to my life before.

I think the point is that parents who live with their children on a day by day basis don't perceive the speed of growth in the same way that people who see the children only occasionally do.
cheers
