I'm loving this new feature in the latest version of Firefox.

Howard,
I'm using the 1.0 Preview Release.
This explains it all re: live bookmarks. Essentially, it allows the bookmarking of news feeds, like BBC, allowing the user to see headlines under the "Bookmarks" menu. The user can then click on a headline to go to the source's website to read the full story.

I guess I ought to like it, but I'd miss the headline pop-up if I gave up on Sharpreader. Is there an Firefox extension that does that yet?

Algers,
Yes. You need Firefox pronto, and you need to relegate IE to the hidden depths of your shiny Vaio's hard drive. It's a very very good browser.

Mekon,
I'm personally not aware of a headline panel extension for 1.0 but my guess is if there isn't one already there will be one soon.
I'm now using the Gmail Notifier as my lone popup panel wizmo.

Live bookmarks are for the lazy who don't want the bother of loading a site to see what is on offer. I use it lots and have BBC, Slashdot, The INQ and The REG throbbing away in the background. I also use the RSS News reader Sage 1.2.2 and it is pointed at MetaFilter, SlashDot,Wired, BBC (lots), The Guardian, The REG, The INQ plus a few I do not wish to share.
All good fun but do you need these features FireFox???
Latest view of the browser wars from the FT.

Alex -- Ditching IE and Outloook Express is a *huge* security upgrade. That Firefox is a much better browser than IE is just a bonus, the real reason to do it is security.
Firefox and one of the various free/share ware mail cients (Firefox, Eudora, etc).
I agree with Roy -- the RSS feed as bookmarks is a bit gimmicky and either read web pages directly or else get a proper RSS reader (my webmail clinet Oddpost has excellent RSS feed support).
