Dumb question

Before you ask, I didn't find the answer in the FAQ. (Hmmmm...I better look again just in case).

Oh hell I'll ask anyway.....what are the ratings for? Assume they are moderator ratings for the topics. If so I expect to get a 0 for this effort!

Every registered lurker has the right to rate any topic. The average of those arbitrary ratings is the number of stars that you see. It has nothing to do with the moderator, or even the actual value of your thread. It's just a useless forum feature, and can be safely ignored. Catch you later!

This is typical! As soon as I finished reading the thread I saw the "rating" drop down box!!

My only excuse (obviously apart from being blind) is that I'm dense. AND Arie if you don't rate my thread at least 3 stars you can forget about me voting for any of yours!
