DJ Shadow again...

A couple of weeks ago I went to the library to check out their music collection. To my surprise they have a very big collection of artists which are not so well known, at least not in the Netherlands. I already had 2 cd's of DJ Shadow (endtroducing & private press), but in here I found 3 which I didn't have! Two of these I had heard of (preemptive strike & live), but the biggest surprise was the one I was unfamiliar with: DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist / Product Placement. It contains two 30 min mixes of funk and soul music with some humour inbetween. Don't know if this is a familiar album to other DJ Shadow fans, but if not, try to grab hold of it!
Regards, Bas
PS Also check out his website, there's a great dvd coming up with a live show!

Fellas,
I saw DJ Shadow a few weeks ago and he claimed that we were witnessing the world's first DVD turntable in use for the first time. Imagine watching a music video, cut and scratched by a DJ for your eyeballs. The overall effect was a bit like Tourette's, I imagine.
Alex, will you be modeling these fine threads on the forum photo portrait thread?

If you like Product Placement, then Brainfreeze is essential, being the 1st in the series.

I like Brainfreeze and Product Placement. But I find I enjoy the original funk and soul 45s and albums even more. That's why I seldom buy new releases.
But if you like these two releases you may find you enjoy McEnroe's instrumental releases like "All Beef No Chicken" and "Druidry".
Another release I enjoy, which isn't really as much intensive turntablism but is a solid mix of funk breaks is the Spexxx "The Cold Shoulder" mix.
BTW, another useful site for beatdiggers (you may already know about this) is Soulstrut.com
They have downloadable or streamable mixes in the same vein as shadow & chemist.

Additonally check out DJ Yoda. His How to Cut and Paste CDs are phenomenal. He is also brilliant live. I heard him play at Neighbourhood in Notting Hill and was totally blown away by his ability on the Decks.
