Electric Kettles
Posted by: David Stewart on 20 October 2004
I didn't really start this thread to ask for advice on buying electric kettles, more to brag about the one I bought last weekend.
It's a
Breville Lightning and its really cool. It's got transparent sides and natty blue internal illumination which shows through when you switch it on. In case you miss that, it's also got flashing red LEDs all around the base. It has a filter and a stay-warm handle and a permanent hot water feature and a 3.1Kw fast-boil element and it's brilliant ................ and it only cost £19.99 from Robert Dyas - OK that's it - anyone else care to share the best kettle buying moments??

I was in M&S recently and they had some cow shaped kettles (to go with the sheep shaped toasters)...
Not sure what shape hair tongs they had though - I think crocodile shaped ones may work...

OK I'm having a slow day so I'll join in!
I too have a 'see through' kettle, not sure who it's made by, but it came from Argos and is pretty good, however this is the 3rd one I've had in 4 years and one of the base lights has gone on the one I currently own...
My one is white but a friend has the 'deluxe' chrome plated version!
The Robert Dyas one for £19.99 sounds neat, mmmm flashing LEDS mmmm!

Did I mention that it also has a multi-directional base (for LH or RH people) with built-in cord stowage - Wow! what a peach
Stop me if I'm boring you

Just how quickly does that kettle boil, Dave?

Kevin,
It depends how much water you put in it!
I'll do some representative tests though and get back you on that.

Nooo! Whatever you do, don't put water in it!

Pray tell me why not! - it says it's OK in the instructions - it fact it goes as far as to suggest that's it's main function
PS: that's apart from making an ideal centrally heated starter-home for a goldfish
, or a centre piece for a home-disco lighting set.

To quote Captain Mainwaring, that's a typical shabby Nazi trick.
