Apathy is Brilliant

Posted by: Berlin Fritz on 10 June 2004

Tediously, being a rather slow old reader I have only just recently finished
that great work "Stupid American White Men" by Michael Moore, and by pure
co-incidence to satisfy this totally unpovoked reading frenzy I followed it up
with a brilliant American novel.
Pink covered Mario Puzos masterpiece "Fools Die"
some 30 years old and he who gave us "The Godfather" was uncannilly relevant to
todays little Presidential toings and froings, especially in the National Guard,
come Reserve department. Really an excellent piece of fantasy and fiction I
thought, so why by new stuff by Woodward and co, at twenty times the price ? On
the subject of Democracy, I really am looking forward to casting my vote here in
Berlin on Sunday next.Being non German I recieved my paperwork via a neutral
Government postal service (as it is responsible)some months ago, sent it back
within days, and promptly (next day) recieved my voting slip.
Somebody advised me
against using a Postal vote as the bar codes within it determine ones identity,
as well as ones political preference, God Forbid, that would be almost
tantamount to Data Protection being abused, innit ?
To keep within the times, I
now have some happy reading from Portugal, namely "Fernando Pessoa" and his Book
of Disquite, maybe also soon to be most relevent at number 10 Downing street,
where they do all seem to be acting in a very Arthur Daly manner of late.

I'm neither for or against apathy.

In similar vein, hard work pays off eventually but being idle pays off straight away.

"Can I answer that later?"

The Dear Leader is fond of strutting the world stage (his favourite stop-over being the White House Rose Garden where he can be photographed with Dubya). But foreign office mandarins are unhappy at some of the brush-offs given to other world leaders who aren't deemed important enough to warrant an audience with Mr Tony.
As Spanish Socialist leader, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero tried and failed to get a meeting with Blair. He only managed to get into 10 Downing Street after he had defeated Blairs chum, Jose Maria Aznar, and become the new prime minister of Spain. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, apparently a key ally in the global fight against terrorism, has twice tried and failed to get an audience with his hoiness, while a fortnight ago his real holiness, the Dalai Lama, had to make do with Jack Straw.

Can this really be the leader of the very same British Labour party born of workers rights, Social justice, the National Health Service, etc, etc, one really does have to wonder ? Afore-mentioned Jack Straw (Britains Foreign Minister) could well also be wondering very loudly I fear, who knows he could even take his place in the very near future ?

Will apathetic Brummies welcome Jebb Bush as Birminghams new leader (and no, I dont mean Alabama, innit) Chow Yawl.

For decades pregnant girls were legally forced to leave the emerald isle, now seemingly they'll soon be legally prevented from entering it, how the Lord really actually does work in mysterious ways, doesn't she ?

Kiljoy-Silk maintains Britain is the world's 4th largest economy, I expect he comes 4.5 between California, maybe he should spread some of his wealth, as he's such a caring Gobshite³

I've yet to meet any Scots, Welsh, or Irish People who wish to either leave, or have a problem with being members of the EU, unlike many of my English kinsmen.
