re Kenny Everett

dear all,

this evening i watched a snap shot of that genius Kenny Everett.

He is still spectacularly funny today and as for Hot Gossip well many sleepless nights were lost fantasiing about their very flexible bodies and their fabulous gussets. The nearest evening tv got to porn in my youth.

I first came across him when i was living in Edinburgh in 1976 1977 and used to listen to his radio shows. It was a must for any 18 year old. Kaptain Kremmen And The Krells atc atc.

Then his TV shows were a must for my friends and i . Good Old Mary Whitehouse she did more for popular tv than anything else with her bigoted rants.

God i loved that show.

Watching it again tonight and especially the charms of Hot Gossip i am convinced that a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo was not around at that time. Wonderful gymnastic routines to great music and with very little clothing on too.

I am sounding a little old and sad i know.

But really it was fantastic innovative tv and i believe has not been bettered yet.

Is it on DVD yet??

I shall have to see if i can find it .

regards David

Not sad at all.

I remember him for Marcel, Sid Snot, Reg Prescott (the accident prone tradesman), Cupid et all.

Extremely talented man that was never, ever copied or bettered IMHO.

So im with you on this one!!!

Cheers
Jason.

And it's all in the best possible taste.

I remember his final Marcel sketch when he tore off the false moustache and said there, i bet you never guessed, it was me all the time.

Be warned = this DVD is not as good as it should be, given the talent of the man it is showcasing, but it is better than nothing.

His pirate radio shows were unique. The first shock-jock? I don't know, but certainly a trail blazer.

Very funny guy, sad loss.

I have wonderful memories of his shows on Radio London. The Kennny and Cash shows he did with Dave Cash were excellent.

We got our first VCR (Sony C7) in 1980 or thereabouts and his was one of the first shows I recorded on the timer. I remember the very high contrast stuff used to play havoc with the VCR and the cheap TV we had then. But he was just wonderful back then and it's still as fresh now. A true pioneer.

I remember my brother thinking he was tremendously funny, but even then I had an on off relationship (mostly off) with TV! One day my brother demonstrated the over the top change of crossed legs to me (in the best possible taste) and caught my young Border Collie in the guts and sent him flying into the (fortunately empty) fireplace. How different my brother and I were. My brother and I never once went out on the beer together. So I guess we were not on the same wave length.

I prefered Frankie Howard! But could see something of the funny side of Kenny for all that.

I never thought I'd read the words "fabulous gussets" on this forum... Big GrinBig Grin

You've made my day, thanks!

the show where Billy Connelly guested was hillarious, especially 'The Mens Room Sketch', which featured numerous re-takes for all the laughter... Billy's "lavoritory attendant Mr William Carruthers" breaking down in stitches to Kenny's "interpid reporter".

I guess you had to be there.
