Naim Delivery Times !!
Posted by: markjp on 29 January 2002
I have been waiting for over 3 weeks now for my dealer to get a Hicap in for me. Is it usual for Naim to take this long to deliver? Do they not keep any stock?
You know what it's like, once you've decided you want something you want it now

Hey chill, the wait will be worth it, the hicap is a great piece of kit to add to any system.
As for the wait I hear that there was a lot of the naim staff of sick for a while and there was also christmas, which means a back log of orders.
Yeah , then penny dropping now.
Anyway I am sure you wont have long to wait now.
Enjoy when it arrives and enjoy!!

"over 3 weeks now for my dealer to get a Hicap"
I would get your dealer to check! he placed the order.

In the last 2 years, I have ordered a CDX, an XPS, a CDS11 and a 52. I have never had to wait for more than two weeks and the CDX was delivered withing a 5 or 6 days.

is about the 'norm' in my experience.
Less, if you're lucky.

one advantage of a delivery lead time is that your goods are made to order -- you can then be more or less sure that they are absolutely the latest serial numbers etc...
but i can also understand the advantage of pay and collect -- waiting is sometimes painful.
but i would rather wait...

That's why the smaller the dealer the better (providing he can pay his bills and hence ensure supplies).
i prefer smaller dealers too. they tend to box-shift less and focus more on customer service, which can be costly to provide. the dealer has to factor this cost in his business model. many dealers fall here. "its expensive to provide good service, therefore we wont provide it" -- real head in the sand stuff.

sorry, off topic a bit...

We are often faced with late deliveries from our suppliers ( for many different reasons) which cause delays and with new products pre-order back logs take some time to clear.
We work very hard to reduce these but they do happen.

Well after a 4 week wait my Hicap has arrived.
It has been powered up for only a few hours, but my initial impression is WOW!
