Board pulling NAC72...

Posted by: Alco on 21 June 2003

Hi guys,

I'm using a NAC72/NAP180 for the last 3 or 4 months now, and suddenly remembered something about board pulling the NAC72, to optimise sound-quality.

Now, at this moment I've got my 72 (ser.nr 100xxx) lying naked in front of me, without its case.

I only use my CDX as a source!

Which boards can/should I pull to optimse soundquality ?
(what slight improvements can I expect)

The following boards are still in my 72:

2x NA321/5
2x NA729/1
1x NA325/7
2x NA324/7

regards,

Thanx for your reply, No-Naim

My dealer removed the phonoboards when I bought the 72 from him, so I can't imagine that the 2 321/5 boards in my 72 are phonoboards.

I just found the discription of the different boards on Tony L's PFM site.

It says: NA321 = Main Gain, Output Drive
Confused
Can I remove that ?

Also: NA324 = Tape Output Buffer
(guess it won't hurt to remove those, would it?)

quote:
DID YOU TRY REMOVING THE 7 SERIES?

No, I haven't but what are they for ?

According to Tony's PFM site the 2 729 boards mean:

NA729 Time-Aligned input buffer boards - AKA 72 Filter Boards Confused

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what it means... Would it be wise to keep 'em in place, or should/can I pull 'em out Roll Eyes
