N-Vi + Supernait vs AV2 + NAP150x + NAPv175

What would be performing best, an N-Vi with a Blu-Ray disc-player taking the best of the Supernait, or just the Blu-Ray disc-player with an AV2 + NAP150x + NAPv175?

Could you re-phrase that in English please!!???

pjl, not very helpfull comment...

Patrik,
You should visit a Naim dealer.
What are your other sources?

In a home theater system, IMO the first option doesn't make it.

You can consider:
N-Vi and a BD player and add a better amp for the front (like a NAP200)
just a supernait and play stereo (this can be really good).
AV2 + 150 + 175 and a bd player, this would be my choice as it offers the best quality and easiest upgrade path.

Of course, this doesn't take into account Cd or regular DVD replay.

No, no CD-play in this case. But BD is also good for DVD playback, no?

yes BD will do regular DVD, but probably not as good as a N-Vi and certainly not as good as a DVD5. But here, it is a choice of technolgy.

Er, that would depend on the BDP....Have you seen upscaled DVD output coming off the likes of a Pioneer LX91 or Denon 3800 (both with very good analogue audio outputs)...? True, it's a close run thing and credit to the DVD5 for holding on so long, but it's video is definitely matched and bettered, and at the price points I personally would rather now have the BDP for the HD performance AND top notch upscaled DVD in the one machine...

LX91 - £1800.
DVD5 - £2600 (Not now on current price list)
n-Vi - £3000 (when it works)

Hi,

With the current move towards HD sound and video it would not be a good idea to spend very much on outdated technology. While the AV2 & DVD5 may have been reasonable kit in their day they are now well outdated and very expensive for what you get. The n-Vi is also seems to have a few detractors at the moment.

If you have £2800 to spend on a source player I would look at the LX91 and 3800 mentioned in SC's post as these will provide BR playback, excellent DVD upscaling and very good HD sound via both HDMI & analogue.

I use a SuperNait for my front speakers from a Yamaha AV amp and I'm pleased with it running AV, CD (CD5x) & Squeezebox.

I will be updating my AV Amp and ideally would like to use a NAP175 for centre/rears with an HD processor from the likes of Onkyo, Marantz or Rotel (about £1500). Obviously I would look at a Naim processor if they made one!

If you already have Naim equipment you might consider something similar.

Regards,

Huw

I would not go then-vi route. Too limited for the future.

With a top Naim stereo solution like a Supernait or a better combi, I (as I currently do as I have purchased a Naim Axess matching my SL-2 and are looking for an adequate processor) would decide between an AV2 (no new formats included but analogue in) or a processor with all the new formats included like a Rotel RSP 1570 or the new upcoming Arcam Processor. I have alos considered a Denon AVR but I assume that its processor would not be adequate for my chain. Please correct me if you made other experience. Naim amplification for all channels should be a must to have a balanced system.

Steve,

I agree with you, that why I said ''probably''.
Cheap BD players will not match a N-Vi; a few good ones will better it (on IQ).

So the best Bly Ray Disc player on the market would not be an ideal match with the Naim AV2? Also, can a Naim AV2 work with a plasma or lcd screen and give a TV-signal for watching for example BBC news with Naim sound?
