Spoon- GA GA Ga Ga Ga

Posted by: mike/dallas on 14 July 2007

I just brought home the new Spoon cd and am impressed.Every track is good,no filler; a bit more poppy than Kill the Moonlight or Gimme Fiction. Less dense more accessible. Reminds me of Pavement or Connells a little. Short at 36 minutes but a bonus CD was included but low-fi and hazy.

Worth a listen if you liked earlier Spoon.

Bought GaGa..... yesterday and love it. Maybe, more importantly, rereading your post reminded me of the bonus cd, not obvious to me in the packaging. I will check that out this morning, lo-fi doesn't usually bother me much.

Thanks again,

Spoon = the USA's best current rock band.

Not as great as Crowded House, but that bar's set pretty high.

Didn't say they were!

If Set A is defined in its highest value by the statement "Spoon = USA's best current rock band", then the statement "Not as great as Crowded House" (i.e., Crowded House is better), indicates Crowded House is clearly not part of Set A, which represents the universe of USA rock bands. Crowded House is clearly part of Set NZ/ROW (New Zealand/Rest Of World rock bands).

Big Grin

But that's merely logic - it's my philosophical belief that the USA is incapable of producing a band of the same particular quality as Crowded House (or XTC, the Kinks, the Smiths, etc.); those bands are clearly a product of the British Empire (may its heroes be ever exalted; may its glory never diminish).

Pedantically Yours,
Bruce

Jeff, Try Gimme Fiction and Kill the moonlight, if you like their new release.

Thanks Mike, love GaGaGaGaGa and borrowed Kill The Moonlight at the library, not had a chance to listen yet but expect to enjoy as well.
