Simple question - will QED silver anniverary cables damage my system ? or do I have to rip up the lounge carpet and replace them with NACA 5 ?

No. In fact it will actually increase the working life of your equipment, due to it being used much less.

It it's under the floorboards, get your A5 cut to the correct lengths, gaffer-tape these lengths to the QED end to end (you need a smooth joint), and use the QED to pull the A5 through carefully. No lifting of carpets/floorboards required.

Do you mean that the cable offers a lesser load to the amp ? if so why ?

Not at all. I mean that I think it would cause you to listen to less music less often. This would tend to reduce the wear on your other components, apart from your TV, if applicable!

THanks I understand QED is crap !!, my beloved is going to kill me, I have gone to great lengths to cover the QED(its tapped under the underlay, so wont pull through - never mind) What I am more interesed in is what difference will it make ? I have noticed a little harshness at high levels 10ish on the volume, although I put this down to the Dyns ?. But in genaral the bass is good and the high is ok. Will this improve with NACA5 ?

Josh.
You may laugh but you don’t know the half of it !! Enjoy the folly of my upgradeitis.
My sy(i)stem a year ago was all NAD and I decided to go for DVD 5.1 and proceeded to install cables in all corners of my lounge (under the floor boards) due to the lengths involved in this (75m+) these cables where relatively cheap ? £3/m
So, unhappy with the audio performance of the NAD DVD / CD system I was advised (badly) to BI amp my NAD power amp and before I had our new carpet fitted and before I bought a new NAD power amp, I installed QED Bi amp Silver for the two fronts speakers (with it so far ?). Needless to say I next paid a visit to a HiFi dealer to purchased NAD power amp, and , yes you guessed it, walked away with CD5 102, 180 and a pair of Dynaudios (which you cant Bi amp) so the plan now is to upgrade to NACA 5 !! Big Grin
I can never understand why my wife despairs at me Roll Eyes

Ah -- I can appreciate the problem. At least you will have quite a lot of the QED to sell. Bung it on eBay, or Loot.

The A5 is vastly better. The improvement will probably be immediate, but it continues to improve for some time. Use Naim plugs either end -- you'll need your biggest soldering iron.
