CD sources (again!)

Posted by: Team Reeves on 08 February 2001

In my search for a quality CD source secondhand I couldn't help noticing a number of CD2 players on offer for nearly the same money as the more usual CDX. How do these stack up sonically, anyone? And what is the model history, which is the newer player etc and which is likely to be replaced first ?

Much obliged for any info.

The CDX was the CD2's replacement. I haven't heard the CD2 myself, so this is hearsay. However, pretty much everyone (except for a few nutters) agree that the CDX is better.

I bought myself an extra puck, just in case. I can't recall the exact price, but it wasn't that much; I think it was somewhere around $20US.

Hi Mike,

Did you order the puck direct at Naim? And is this the same puck, or the new (and worse sounding) one?

I ordered it through my local Naim dealer, so I guess it would be the new one. As to how it sounds, I've no idea; it's still wrapped in its virgin plastic. I bought it in case I had trouble with the first one, and I haven't had trouble yet. wink
