Black or White sir?

Having used Naim speaker cable in many permutations and lengths over the past 20 years I have come to the conclusion that there is a difference between black and white (NACA5 that is).
I hear a warmer sound with more bass from the white, and more detail and treble from the black. The difference is enough for me to choose colour to suit the accoustics of a room, rather than the decor.
Incidently, I am not a great believer in directionality, and think the cable burns in equally either way round, although the orientation then needs to remain constant.

The Power of Suggestion.
I once was convinced that the two versions I owned of "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding" were different. I was convinced that Nick Lowe was singing on one version, Elvis Costello on the other. When I played them back-to-back for a friend, confident that I was hearing differences, I afterwards turned to him and said, "See?" He then shocked the dickens out of me by saying (heresy!) "They're the same!"
After adjusting my dignity to the shock of recognition that I could have *just maybe* fooled myself, I listened again. I was puzzled and shocked that they did, indeed, sound exactly the same. Where, I wondered, did the apparently different sound I had heard before come from? I'm not a psychologist but finally simply put it down to the power of suggestion. Once we are lead to suspect that something may be true we cannot help but unconsciously collect evidence that our opinion is true. To do otherwise is to risk insanity.
So, Rockingdoc, no disrespect but...... are you sure you hear a difference?
Respectfully,
Markus

You could well be right, and I think there are likely to be documented examples where visual information changes other perceptions. I seem to recall experiments with food colouring and taste.
I suppose I need a blind trial, but doubt if I know anyone else weird enough to swap the leads round for me.

There was a post sometime ago regarding this on the naim forum
From memory black was better, there was some form of logical reason behind it, and those will golden ears could hear the dramatic improvements.
I use white and black...

yes but the cables must have different dilectrics because of the different pigments, and as these comprise such a large part of the cable structure could influence the sound.
