Naim Owners Club - 1000 Al***s - What's the best Led Zep elpee

Posted by: Guido Fawkes on 03 February 2008

I've no idea on this one - I like most of their first four albums and Physical Graffiti, but couldn't say which was the best - I'd probably choose III.

Which one would you choose?

Just a word for the live releases.

Last year's reissue of 'The Song Remains the Same' soundtrack is superb.

Page has put in the missing tracks from the set, and it now has the feel of a concert, and flows throughout.

Unfortunately due to contract restrictions, he could not do the same for the film, which I still find very disjointed.

The live DVD(2003) is very, very good indeed.

If you can track down a copy of the soundboard, or DVD recordings of the 24/25 May 1975 at Earls Court, they are absolutely amazing, and show a depth the band had that didn't appear on the studio albums.

I can't pick a favorite studio album.

I think Presence is very underrated, but I, III, IV and Physical Grafitti are all excellent.

Well I make that Physical Graffiti by a short head from IV - if I read the runes correctly

BTW did we decide the best Ray Stevens album?

I remember Led Zep doing Stairway for the first time on BBC In Concert just after Pick of the Pops on Radio 1 and John Peel saying and the next number is a new song. Robert Plant said it was inspired by Bridget The Midget.

For me the they're at their peak on the first four. One and three are my favourites.
