Recommend some good vinyl please ?

Posted by: smu on 05 February 2008

Hi guys,
i've just invested in a P5 and i only have about 12 albums so far. I like rock, female vocals, blue grass/country and classical. Could i have some recommendations for lp's and where to buy them.
Thanks guys.

Kind regards, Stuart.

Joy of Cooking Great San Francisco folk rock band from the early 70's.

Check out the thrift stores while your at it.

gosh The Joy, wonderful group from my youth. Also remember the two women went off on their own and did an album in mid 70s I enjoyed.

For older groups I'd look for mid career Fleetwood Mac, Allman Bros., Paul Simon, early Elton John, and of course Steely Dan. I'm sure those are around in abundance.

I've also enjoyed road house music (country/jazz) of Lyle Lovett and the funky Ricki Lee Jones on vinyl.

I'm not as current as many here, but I return to these performers again and again.

Sorry I forgot Eno Collaboration - though it's only a 7" so the CD is better because of the two extra tracks - Get Kramer and Hair Like Brian May Blues.

recently I have really enjoyed the japanese reissue of the Zombies "Odyssey and Oracle". And all the 200g Quiex Classic Records pressings of Led Zeppelin are pretty nice to listen to.

Ingenue, by KD Lang is one of my favourite female vocal LP'S. In fact, most of her work is worth getting, I think.
