What does it for you ?

Posted by: Chris Brandon on 18 January 2002

Ok,imagine,it's saturday night, the supposedly social highlight of the week, you've had a hard week at work and you are told in no uncertain circumstance by your "significant other", that you *ARE* going out on saturday night, when all you really want is your own company,a nice bottle of something very pleasant, and an early night !

What tunes do you put on for the much needed motivation ?

regards

Chris

Chris,
At the moment I don't have to think about this.....It must be Eric Bibb.

I have all his albums and can't think of a better way to spend an evening ( on a musical note )

As for the bottle of something nice..

A Montepulciano " Colle Secco" goes down very well.Oddbins used to sell them but are having sourcing problems at the moment.

Eric Bibb would definately make me stay in. His stuff is sooo good it hurts. If I had to go out I would play something like 'Uncle Harry's last freak-out' by the Pink Fairies to get myself revved up.

Although if it's orders from the missis, the Allman Brothers 'Whipping Post' might be more appropriate big grin

The Bibb brethren is growing...

Yes I have Painting Signs, and 3 others. Magic. I intend to get the rest soon. Have you seen www.ericbibb.com ? Strangely the 'complete discography' isn't. Complete that is.

Yeah, bibb-ity bibb-bibb.... but what makes you fu*n*ked up enough to go out? (note - no specification as to the destination - a trip to the outlaws, pubbing/clubbing/gigging/shopping/dining with friends etc....)

The Breeders, Groove Armada, The Clash, Basement Jaxx, Sasha & Digweed, The Cure ....whatever, but depends how much you need to be revved up. If I'm feeling low Power Corruption & Lies usually serves to be most uplifting - but a full 50 mins is required really... Were there time limits applying here?

G. Love and Special Sauce, the Folk Implosion, or Soul Coughing - they all make you a wee bit edgy.
