I have a Rega Planet 2000 on the end of Naim 42.5 - 160.
When I bought the Planet I also demed the CD5. There is no doubt that the CD5 is a better faster tighter player, unfortunatly I could not afford it.
I have not demmed the Jupiter, but I imagine it to be a better version of my Planet, however the synergy afforded by using the CD5 with the Nait 5, given that they would have been designed for each other, must be worth somthing.
Even though I own a Rega CDP, I would say that a Naim player is better. I dont think that there is value in the Jupiter. If you want to save money, look at the Planet, but if you can afford the Jupiter buy the CD5.
This is only my opinion, and I would try and find somone with a Jupiter just in case it is worth it, I dont think it is.

You are a very patient man, Nuno...
Your way of buying a cd-player(if ever) is like a Zen exercise, or one of those 48-hour sex positions in the Kama Sutra...

My first idea was to buy a Planet! But as I´ve got the Nait 5 ,I think it´s a good idea go for a source 900£ minimum!well cd 5 is 1 125 £ more, and if a record is bad it just don´t play it,and Júpiter can forgive better bad records!what you think?

If you are worried about a good peice of hifi highlighting the weakness in a recording, dont listen to that recording if it upsets you.
If you want a forgiving source, that won't highlight weak recordings I can recomend that you buy a cd player from the likes of Bush or Alba for around £34.99 GBP, this way you are sure to avoid hearing any weakness in recordings (although there will be no music, and the sound will be painfull).
Simon
ps. just buy the one you like the sound of most.

Probably Nuno isn't talking about bad recordings, but about damaged discs. Those will be accepted by some players, but not by Naim players. First time it happened to me I was disappointed too.
It's just something you have to get used to. Think of it this way: a sony walkman will accept any disc, even upside down. Naim is more sensitive. Upside is you get more music.

If you have any damaged CD's (scratched surface, not damaged recording layer) you can get them playing by polishing the surface with an automotive wax / fine polisher (Turtle Wax or whatever). Use a peace of moistured cotton (the stuff used on cotton swabs; i don't know what it's called in English) with a small amount of the wax/polisher and rub it back and forth in the direction of the scratsh. Beware of doing extra damage with your fingernails! Also, make sure you polish the afterwards to remove the wax/polisher.
Works like a charm, and is much less expensive than the special goo they sell at "highway robbbery" prices
Also very usefull on (extremely) smuged CD's

For uplayably damaged CDs try using brasso wadding.
Get deep down and mean with the son bitch and clean off with a soft cloth.
I have saved quite a few this way.

I did this demo about a year ago and it was a very difficult decision but....
The Jupiter was much more forgiving and on poorly recorded discs was much easier to listen to but i couldn't help feeling that i was going to miss some detail and clarity sometime in the future. Both of these players have a good boogie factor and the Jupiter seemed to have a slightly fuller bass. In the end it was the complete presentation of the CD5 that got me - it just seemed more natural and wasn't trying to do anything to the sound. Remember that you can't add a PSU to the Jupiter.
Oh yeah, and i couldn't be bothered to dem interconnects !

Buy the CD5.
Stick to one thread.
Please.
At the risk of repeating myself, of course.

when I heard Júpiter, the power/pre were a Chord,so the sound seems very digital and a bit agressive! In my Nait the Rega seems more analogic and it plays well, but guys if I can save 1 125£ cd 5 it´s a good choice!yes cd 5 sound seems more natural and with more detail!
