Euro voltage question-not HiFi!

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 10 March 2006

This is an incredibly stupid question. I want to buy a retirement gift for a colleague (a fancy coffee-maker) which he may well take to his home in France.

Is the voltage different? I cannot believe that I do not know this, but if I buy a UK model will I need to be careful to ensure it can run in France?

Oh yes, I know about the plug being different!

Bruce (who obviously spends very little time using mains appliances on the continent)

We SHOULD all be on 230v nominal.

France is definately 240V/230V.
I know this because my parents have a home there and take various items when they go.

They do however have different plugs so you may wish to purchase an adapter or euro plug so they can use it.

Cheers!

Anything made for the UK will work in France. (except a TV!)
