Snaics and not-Snaics

As I understand it, I have 2 black Snaic-5's, a grey Snaic-5 and a black Snaic-4, all used as interconnects between my Naim pre-amps, HiCaps and Naxo (or, in the case of the grey one, between 72 and 160). So far so good - and yes, the black ones sound better than the grey.
But what about the cables that run from the Naxo to my 3x250s? Are they classed as Snaic's? All 3 are black and have plastic Cannon plugs at the power amp end and non-lockable Dins at the other, and they must be 15 years old.
Is there a new improved version available? (with lockable Dins at the very least?) If so, where can I get some? (My NZ dealer claims not to know).
And what about the signal feed from my CDX? (it's grey) Snaic or not? Upgradable or not?
Basically I don't understand why there's all this fuss and focus regarding 1 of a minimum of 3 interconnects in the chain (assuming you're using an offboard PSU for the pre) whereas the other 2 are hardly ever mentioned (and obviously I'm assuming here that the other 2 are indeed not-Snaic's).
Well I probably could've put all that a bit more clearly and concisely but I hope you all get my drift..
Perplexedly
