The last two Radiohead CDs probably sound better when played on a CD5!
I think that Kid A and Amnesiac would probably have made a good single album rather than stretched to two full CDs. You definitely have to be in the mood for them but as Nick says they have moved on from the more traditional rock format of the first three...
Pablo Honey is ok, the Bends is excellent straightforward English rock music with some great tunes. OK Computer is one of the best albums Pink Floyd never made.
I often wonder why any new band are compared to Radiohead, they are very good at what they do but none of it is earthshatteringly original.
Or is it just that there haven't been that many good bands in the 90's for the newer generation of writers to relate to?

Nuno,
Don't listen to seagull, the Jupiter is much better.
OK Computer has some good stuff on, but I rarely manage to sit through the whole album. I also own The Bends and Kid A, but never manage to raise the enthusiasm to get them off the shelf. Will give them a dusting off this weekend.

One of many "indie" bands compared to Radiohead!
Don't see it myself, unless its a reference to them doing what they do well without being particularly original. I must admit that Parachutes still gets played at home fairly regularly so its probably better than I first thought! (Whether I'll still be playing it in 20 years time still remains to be seen!)
Back on topic...
Not heard the recent Radiohead live album but they say that the newer material makes more sense played live. (Did see a concert on TV a few months ago though which seems to bear that out.)
Finally, was Morning Bell such a good song that Radiohead had to release two versions of it?

Not sure I see any connection between Radiohead and Coldplay, apart from perhaps File under miserable male vocals.
Nuno, the Jupiter is excellent. Just buy it!

David is just giving some honest, unbiased advice.
As Nuño astutely remarked this Forum is not neutral, but some of us can look beyond that...
A Planet ain't too bad either BTW (especially with Radiöhead, it appears)

My view is probably more unbiased than most on this forum.
Nuno, are you sure you heard a Jupiter 2000 and not an earlier version? The Jupiter 2000 uses the same basic circuit topology as the original Jupiter but with improvements in the digital converters, power supply and clocking stages. The dual differential DAC is based around two custom built Rega IC40 DACs (24bit Delta Sigma affairs, said to be a Burr-Brown modified to Rega's specifications), with separate converters for the left and right channels. DC servo control is used in the post-DAC amplifier and filter stages, to keep the number of capacitors in the signal path as low as possible.
Seven separate power supplies feed the transport, digital and analogue sections, micro controller, display, analogue amplifier and filter. All stages for the clock PLL and signal path are double regulated, and there are two physically separate power feeds for the noisy stages (i.e. motor drivers) and clean stages (DAC, clock, etc.).
And it has a much sexier name than the CD5.

Nuno makes his first contribution to The Music Room and we end up recommending CD players!
David, how come you never contributed to one of Nunos many threads on CDP's?

As I'm sure you're aware, The Music Room is a much more civilised place for discussing such important matters.

...next installment should hopefully be in November. Dave J is currently completing some structural work on his house in order that we can give his Isobariks a proper testing.

Well David I heard it for five minutes in my sistem,as the dealer was more intersted in dem a Maestro.
But I´ve got another audition next week
Let´s see synergies sistem.CD 5 has lots of rythm and dynamic, let´s see what Jupiter can do in my sistem but it´s not a easy task competition with CD 5 .CD 5 is a thrill for me
MY sistem : Naim Nait 5 amplifier,Nad c 540 cd player,B&W 601 speakers,Naca5

hmmmm, sounds like the Jupiter wasn't fully warmed up.
It's certainly not an easy task.

Gentlemen,
The Bends is a superlative album. OK Computer is similarly excellent.
Indeed, Radiohead have been bandied about in the British media only because there's nothing to write about in this post Thatcherite era. Even so, your continual whinging is inexcusable.

I have The Bends, Kid A and Amnesiac and of the three, I reach for Kid A the most. Kid A is to me a very original album, inspite of what others say. Yeah, sure all music is derivative, but as a whole Kid A was a breakthrough. I had great hope for Amnesiac but felt it was too much of the same - still good but nothing new - hence less of an impact. If I recall it was recorded simultaneously with Kid A. Perhaps if Amnesiac were released before Kid A, I'd be raving about it instead. I have heard OK Computer, and the next time I see it on vinyl I'll probably pick it up, cheers
