No wonder the lefties are distrusted.

Chaps
Sarkozy won the French election fair and square. He secured of 53% of the vote on a 86% turnout. That is democracy in action.
The lefties react in the expected manner by rioting. No wonder no one trusts the sods.
They show themselve time and time again to be nasty and arrogant tossers who couldn't be trusted to run a corner shop let alone a country. You meet them in real life and you see them on Hifi fora snivelling like the curs that they are.
The good news is that Sarkozy is the wrong sort of chap to demonstrate against so it will be interesting to see what happens.

53% is a landslide in the US. I agree with Mick. Maybe Sarko can give Bush some much needed cover in Europe. Hope France sets the example for the USA next time. But over here it looks like Hillary in a walk.

Really.

Perhaps in Arkansas.
One thing for sure, it will be much more interesting this time around than the last couple.

Actually, in the most recent polls, Obama is nearly even with Clinton among Democrats.
And I suppose 53% is a "landslide" if, as was declared by President Junior in 2004, 51% is a "mandate."
All best,
Fred

Mick, I think it's disingenuous of you to disavow at this point. Within the context of your other remarks here, you have clearly expressed an opinion, and it certainly isn't that your fellow passengers were selfish and lacking compassion.
And, again, if they can afford a cruise they are not "ordinary chaps." This is nothing more than a variation on the age old "why don't those people just pull themselves up by their own bootstraps" nonsense.
All best,

I've been away for a while - in France, funnily enough - so I took an interest in this thread.
Well done Mick, I'm glad to see you haven't lost your touch... as well-informed and thoughtful as ever. So unlike all those moaning pinkos, lezzas and asylum seekers with their bigotry.
Keep up the good work!

Not according to Gallup:

That's roughly 40% difference, by my count.

It's an unpleasant fact, Hillary is the odds on favorite. The interesting race will be on the Republican side, where there are no clear cut front runners. Most people, myself included, think McCain cannot project a positive image and therefore cannot win the nomination. My money would be on a dark horse, Romney or Fred Thompson.

LOL and why not? I found Toronto to be disarmingly friendly - I thought people were so nice and friendly that everyone I met fancied me (sadly not the case and who can blame em?)I was much surprised to learn that in Canada Toronto is thought of as being much less friendly than other cities!

It's true - in Vancouver, they kiss strangers openly in the streets. In Calgary, with tongue.

To avoid looking back...
And predictably ....."As usual Don fails to develop a serious argument or back his comments up with support from other sources or evidence of any kind.....Does my face look bovverd?"
Acad, we're not bovverd about your face. The first two points are virtually self evident and really don't need any further support or evidence, especially in your usual form of a dozen biased or dubious web-links.
The third paragraph is so well supported by your posts on this forum (even the ones that haven't been removed) that its simply a "given".
Cheers

Buddhism on the other hand, has done sod-all that is actually useful or practical.
However you personally, need to try a lot harder if you ever want to succeed at something in your life, i.e. become a true Buddhist. Your insults, personal abuse towards members of this forum, persistent sniping and spiteful misrepresentation of much of today's Christian (and other's) efforts to bring comfort, hope and practical opportunity to the world's poor, leaves you well short of the mark. But please, do keep trying, perhaps one day you might succeed???

Don,
What is manifestly evident is that you are just plain thick. Offer evidence or shut up. You are making yourself look like Parry, do you have no dignity?
I repeat '.."As usual Don fails to develop a serious argument or back his comments up with support from other sources or evidence of any kind..' No change there then.

quote:Oh dear Acad,:-
Hurl a gratuitous personal insult
Ignore the point at hand
Set an exam question on a different subject
Insult the addressee yet again
Insult one or two others for good measure
Try, really try hard, to avoid the insults. I know you have to do it as some sort of "coping" strategy, but do try.
And why not try to assimilate what you have read, even if it is your usual web-sites and propaganda books. Then put your thoughts into your own words to express your views, rather than simply regurgitating the original.
Cheers
