Upgrading my ears
Posted by: mikeeschman on 13 June 2009
For the past few weeks, I have been following the cello parts in Beethoven string quartets at least three or four nights a week. My fluency with bass clef seems to be improving.
I found a graduate student in need of money to take me on for six "coaching" lessons in fixed do solfege using "Music for Sight Singing" by Robert W. Ottman, to improve my pitch accuracy.
I'm playing trumpet again, and expect to be "fully operational" as a trumpet player by the end of the summer.
Meanwhile, I've migrated from Beethoven to Chopin and Stravinsky in my listening sessions.
This is the most fun I've had in a while.
