Is It Me ?

Now I understand the old local lingo fairly well I can really enjoy some of the very good tv films that show here. Mainly thrillers from various parts of Germany with the usual recipe used by just about everybody else as well. A lot of pretty contemporary British stuff is shown here regularly now as well, and I find a striking problem with both, which 'amazingly' is generally not the case with our usual Yankee dose.
I know I'm getting older, but it's not that aspect either, it's the fact that just about every bleedin cop from Bradford to Rostock happens to be either a Detective Inspector or higher (usually DCI) with seemingly no other lower 'real copper' ranks anywhere to be seen, except for the odd statutary 'genius' up & coming sergeant: Male or female, who makes the tea, and hits the spot when needed.
Fritz Von Yeah, I think it's just me, I really must get out more, less telly more padded cell maybe ? Yes, I hear you all cry
Not too mnetion that besides the odd 'real' fat beer swilling bastards, most ov em look like Vogue Magazine rejects, innit

Same sort of thing with hospital shows. Every time I'm at a hospital I see fat nurses - but the nurses on hospital shows are all thin and beautiful.

That's quite true Deano, but they're not all Matrons, innit ?

There was a show called "cops" which featured all ranks sgt and below, all ranks above were to use the venacular, pricks.
It was raw to the point and made great television. A one-off perhaps.

Is there any connection between the difficulty of keeping great rolls of flab clean and the prevelance of MRSA? Phritz?

NO
We all carry MRSA in our noses, apparently.
It's not just about keeping hospitals clean, it's a little bit more complicated. Like most problems these days.

MRSA is very low in danish hospitals compared with British. Perhaps danish noses are superior?
Or could it be the different standards of hygiene between the two health services? The danes also boil their beds between patients. Boiling patients seems not to improve matters and can easily lead to complaints from visiting relatives.
Following checks on whether toilet users are cheating and not washing their hands the Danes are now using a machine to check handwashing standards amongst medical staff. Apparently some are more skilled than others at this most basic task. It is hoped the machine will improve hygiene standards further by offering specific advice to each member of staff.
I do hope the above doesn't put your nose out of joint?

I was quoting an MRSA specialist I heard on the radio a couple of months ago. He did agree that better cleanliness is needed, but the problem was not as straightforward as just ensuring staff washed their hands after touching a patient. Issues of resistancy to anti-biotics is a major factor in the rise of the disease. I'm not sure you can do straight comparisons between countries but the disease occurs throughout the world.

Given all that, what’s the proboscis (sorry) prognosis for the future?

F**k knows.
Just something else for the neurotic West to worry about along with global warming, terrorism, globalisation, obesity, pollution, aging populations, g.m foods,AIDS, world poverty, rising sea levels, crime, giant meteorites, teenage pregnancies, teenage boys, aliens...
