And It's Goodnight From Me!

Dear Friends,
I came to this Forum a few years ago looking to see what any members might have thought of the NAP 300. I had just borrowed one and thought it very fine indeed. As there seemd to be next to nothing about it here, where everything was really on the biggy, the 500, or the oldy, the 250, I wrote what I thought of the newbie, the 300. That was my first Thread.
Over the years, I have read a good deal here, and was tempted to get SBLs purely on the say so of some SBL nuts. I became an SBL nut!
Most recently I started a Thread on the Hi-line which I consider a masterpiece. I am going to try to get one.
I have also tried to enliven the Music Room, with diverse posts, and Threads. But I made a terrible mistake in typing a post, and have lost all confidence in my ability to not potentially make such a mistake again.
Really what I am saying, and mean it, is adieu, dear friends. I try very hard to be gentle, nice and polite, but I am a typo disaster area. Everything I have written has been offered in good part, but it is time to leave it in safer hands.
I am perfectly alright, and shall be. Those who have my email can be sure of receiving the odd note now and again, but my time here on the Forum has run its course, and I would not want anyone to worry about me. I am fine enough. Not my best maybe, but fine.
There is no hard feeling, but a certainty that he fun has gone out of it for me.
So I wish all my friends a lovely time, and wish everyone here, one last time:
All the best from Fredrik

I did, Rasher.
Don't worry though - I disappeared about three months ago and nobody so much as raised an apostrophe...ah well, I was never the life and soul, etc.

Chaps
There are puppies and there are majestic dogs.
Fredrik is a Great Dane and his bark is worth a more than the yaps from a thousand puppies.
I do not dish out praise often but Fredrik is worthy of it. So lets hope he drinks whatever stuff he drinks and returns with his usual high qualty prose.
We need more like him.
Regards
Mick

Fredrik
Although I'm new to the forum I have been a 'voyeur' for some time by way of research for my (then) imminent Naim purchases.
I echo the sentiments offered here that it would be a great loss to the forum were you to participate no longer.
Your posts are never less than informative and entertaining and, from whatever position I may be in to judge, written in exemplary english.
I really enjoyed your 'Hi-line Audition' thread. If only some reviewers who write for the hi-fi press were so eloquent. It always annoys me when they talk about equipment without even a mention of what music they have been listening to. It's impossible to put their comments into any sort of perspective.
So, Fredrik, please carry on contributing to the forum and educating us all about classical music.
Anyonw can mak typoa!!!
Best regards
Mark

...except, Mick, Fred is Norwegian!
Never mind - one little detail, eh!
Any Fred's been gone before, as have Fritz, and you, and Rasher, and I suppose to lesser extent, me - albeit still around but in "lurk"-mode, but look at us - we always come back!
Cheers,
Jon

I must confess I actually post here far less than i used to, but as you say Jon, I always have a look round, as does Fritz. I mean, where else would he get his material for his posts from?

Fredrik,
I haven't a clue whether you feel you have upset people here, or whether someone here has upset you, or you have simply become tired of the Forum (I hope not). If you have been upset by somebody and they haven't apologised, shame on them. I can't possibly imagine that you could ever cause offense to anybody yourself. Eric captured most of waht I would say in his first post, but i will repeat it anyway
Your endearing typos are all part of your very great charm. Your views are greatly respected in the hifi forum and you bring politness, respect, tolerance, knowlege and intelligence to the rubber room.
You are a Naim forum institution.
I consider you a friend and would like to be considered a friend by you.
I don't have a clue what heinous typo you are referring to but unless it is a hanging offence I really dont see what the hell is the problem. To err is human. I am sure you have done nothing outrageous.
It would be a real sadness if you really did leave and a real joy to see you tell us that after careful reflection you were going to stay because you were among friends and wanted to stay.
Cheers
Don

This reminds me when I worked in the bar at Piccadilly station, Manchester.
Had a guy come in and give me his life story over several Johnny Walkers.
He left.
Shortly after a salvation army worker turned up looking for a depressive who'd phoned telling them he was going to end it in front of a train.
Never found out what happened though.
Course if he'd been on this forum he might not have done anything.

Bob,
The guy had probably just been on this forum, hence the phone call to the salvation army.

I'm sure
I'd be missed for:
1. My occasional SME ravings, and
2. My sage advice about puck slippage, based on harrowing first-hand experience.

dear Friends,
This old Husky is going off for a good sleep, lick its (self inflicted) wounds, and will see what it feels like to dip his pad in the water again sometime hence. I don't say whether it it is certain, but you have helped me think about it. Thanks from Fredrik

Yes but I hadn't expected him to be back so
soon!

OK Fred, now that you're here, we wait with baited breath for the latest on Walcha.
What can you tell us?

Dear Jon,
For all that thou did go quiet, I did miss you here. You sort off flagged up that changes might lead to your going quiet, and I was glad to see you posting again over the last few days.
What I have had is one hell of a personal wobble. It happens, and it is not fun. I am not over it. Been going on for weeks really and one idiotic failing is enough to really put the boot into me, from me. No one else has to join in. I could manage to losoe a fight with myself.
I have put a few thoughts up this evening, but I am not up for the full energetic thing just now. Give me a week. I was at my wits end over the last wto days, and this nothing small. It will take time to get back into relishing life. So forgive a slow progression.. Fredrik

Fredrik,
just read this thread as it's been a bit busy out here lately...
I'd echo all positive comments on this thread and urge you to stay.
Take a week, take as long as it takes, get yourself back to full strength.
Good luck and best wishes.
Cheers,
Ali

Hi Fred,
Thank you for your kind words, and believe it or not I can well sympathise with where you are, and I say this as someone who has often considered himself as unable to fight his way out of a paper bag!
Sometimes it's good to take a break before hurling yourself back into the fray with renewed vigour - as I am sure you will. As for my hifi changes, yeah there has been the odd one or two, and there may be another on the way...details in Hi-Fi Corner will be forthcoming, I promise

In the meantime, keep lurking.
Cheers,
Jon

You are a wonderful chap and you remind me of my old uncles back in the 1950's when behaviour was so much better than today.
What you do need, however, is a lesson in personal confidence. You once said the "you were too old for this world". Total twaddle, you should have said the world is too young for you.
When you are back on your feet, give me a shout and you can spend a week end down here. You can teach me about decent music and I will make you realise what a great chap you are. Also we will get a few mouthfuls of decent malt down you.
Come back when you are ready.
Enjoy your sabbatical.
Regards
Mick
