Loading CD5 sounds odd

Hi folks,
A couple of months ago my CD5 started making a strange noise when I loaded a disk.
My curiosity got the better of me tonight and I decided to take a look.
It seems to be the ribbon cable that attaches from the back of the transport assembly has somehow got itself into a position where as I push the transport into the machine it jumps up onto the circuit board (its quite hard to see in there).
Looking at a picture of a CD5 with the lid off it should have enough room in there without getting itself into that position.
I could leave it but any idea if this would cause signal degredation if its in direct contact with the board?
Prolly not worth a dealer visit - is it easy to whip the lid off the CD5 and would this void the warranty?
Cheers
Dave
