Tonight I shared a great evening with a Pole and his wife, and a Latvian and his sister, drinking, well at least Wodka ... if not Polish ...

And I was the last to be standing! Yikes even a half-Russian can understand that not all all Anglo-Saxons are immune!

After taking my glasses off, all bets were off!

Terrible news from Poland today.

I am sure that everyone here will have deep sympathy for those involved in the tragedy on their way to commemorate the events of 70 years ago at Katyn.

After Poland's national catastrophe where its leadership, recent iconic historical personages, defense chiefs, and Church leadership were so sadly lost, I am certain that the country will recover with sagacity and dignity far more quickly than might be generally realised.

I hope I may be forgiven for posting this link, which shows that country's struggle for survival and sense of destiny that brings only respect.
