Watch Recommendations

Hi All
Well bonus time is apon us and I decided that I'd put part of my bonus towards a nice new watch.
Looking to spend up to £1,200 and was hoping for a few ideas that anybody might have.
My minimum criteria is that the watch has to have a metal strap as I don't like leather ones.
Thanks

SWP - You shouldn't run a way with the idea of associating Rolex's with fakes. Look here and you'll see what I mean, and also remember what Stewart said about ditching his TAG because everyone assumed it was a fake. You'll get the same whatever you buy, but at least if you buy an Omega, TAG or Breitling you can get it now with a discount. With a Rolex there is around a 6 month waiting list (which means that when you get it, it's worth more than you paid for it).
If looking for a Breitling, then don't overlook the Navitimer Heritage.
And thanks for starting a very enjoyable thread too, it's been fun. Whatever you buy, I wish you the greatest of happiness with it, and maybe it'll be the start of a collection. Don't forget to tell us what you eventually settle on.

Your watch says a lot about what typre of stereo you own.
For instance, it's a fact that most Tag Heuer owners also own either Bose or Meridian.
Shahinian owners tend to gravitate towards Swatch.
The discerning Naim owner does himself proud by purchasing an Oris...

I'll floor that! No watch, and not had one since about 1986. No Naim, then! Fred

Well today was the day, the face off between the Tag Carrera and the Omega Seamasters....
The winner was the Omega, I got the GMT version of the Seamaster 300, basically, the watch has slightly better mechanics within and can tell the time in 2 time zones, which is handy for when I pop over to Canada a few times a year.
Thanks for everybodys input.

I thought that luminous dial paint was not used any more because of the radiation? Or is there some new luminous paint that is safer? Fredrik

Not sure, I didn't even tag that it was luminous until I stepped into my front room earler today and heard a comment about my 'glow in the dark watch'

Great choice SWP. You can be assured that you considered all the options. That watch will last you just about your lifetime if you want it to, so wear it every single day and let it become a part of you. That's what they are for.

Nice watch - good thought process - always nice be able to justify these things to ourselves by saying we went to a lot of trouble to think about it and work out what to buy etc etc. The best thing is you can repeat it as often as you like with the next watch(s) you purchase, it has worked about 5 times for me so far, albeit the colection building has slowed down now, as I came to the conclusion that I only gain enjoyment from my watches when I am waring them, and if I have too many then there will be some that do not see the light of day very often.
I have a Panerai with a GMT function, the second hour hand only rotates once every twenty four hours, the idea being that as well as knowing what time it is in the second time zone, you also know if it day or night. I must admit thas as I do not often use this "function", whenever I do it takes me a little time to work out what it says... for example if the "GMT hand" is in the 3'oclock position, it is actualy 6.00 in the morning!!
Is this the same on your Omega?

Joe - a smiley or some other suitable post-bashing verbage would not have gone amiss. However, you instead came across as a troll.
Besides, it is widely known that I have no sense of humor.

Yes, I worked this out today when the GMT hand was moving 'half' as fast!! After a bit of head scratching and a closer look around the face there is actually a 24h clock!!

If you need a smiley to realise that my post was just for a laugh, then, well I don't know.
Thanks for the heads up on your lack of a sense of humour.
I'll try and accommodate you next time...
Love
The Big Bad Troll... (smiley - for Aric)
