Headline connections

Posted by: kevinrt on 15 March 2002

I have just ordered a Headline and Napsc to use with my CD5. Will it arrive with all the cabling I need to use it out of the box, or are there any extras I will need?

I never remember to ask these things when I'm at the dealers.

I've never tried hooking my headline directly to a Naim CD player. (I haven't got the pin-out's handy, so I can't say whether it would work.) However, since the Headline is a pre-amp itself with a volume knob and all that.

Can someone else check the pin-outs for a CD5 to see if it uses the same pins as the tape-out pins on the pre-amp sockets?

I meant to say Nait 5 rather than CD5. Do I need any extra cables?

Looking at the system connections guide (page 10) on Naim's website, it appears you will need a 5-2 SLIC. This can go to sockets 3,4, or 5 on your Nait.

I'm sure your dealer has taken care of the cable details...

Hi Guys

I think you will only need the SLIC cable if you plan to hook up the Headline to a *Cap.

The NAPSC already has a suitable cable attached to it, this will connect to and power the headline.

The audio connect is likewise built into the Headline and connects to the tape input.

Best bet is probably to confirm this with the dealer.

thanks very much for the replies. Looked like turning into a complicated thread before I corrected myself.
