Mykonos

I feel that some times a brilliant song, or band deserves a special mentioning every once in a while, and the Fleet Foxes certainly come under this category.
Well what a brilliant band! When i first heard 'Mykonos' i first thought what a great undiscovered gem from the late 70's era, but finding out that they are a new band, i only have respect for them creating such a lovely interesting (if somewhat old school) sound, disregarding current music trends.

Just my opinion of course, but i think that this band might have more to give than this already excellent album. (Single- Mykonos)

Great song that.

I bought the album after hearing 'Mykonos' on an Uncut cover mount CD. Unfortunately it isn't on the album, only on the Sun Giant EP. Which is a pity as IMHO it outshines anything on the album itself Frown

Same here, it is on the extended (2CD)album I believe.

Sonically, the LP is streets above the CD. More open and natural-sounding. Smile My only quibble is that the handling machinery seems to leave some marks on the vinyl.

The Sun Giant EP is included with the album, CD or LP.

I got the 2 disc album upon hearing Mykanos which is a stand out single thats for sure on the radio...BUT i have been less than impressed with the rest of the stuff on there.
would agree that its well produced though.

But then you're more of a Floyd fan than me... Big GrinWinker

For me, Fleet Foxes and Elbow were the stand-out albums of 2008, and both of them are simply superb live.

Good wishes,
James

All personal taste and all that...I don't really like Mykonos, but love the album (best new release I've heard in years).

I get very tired these days of 'bands that sound like bands' Killers etc - Fleet Foxes do seem to be on of the few that have their own flavour.

I agree, terrific albums both. I bought the Fleet Foxes album before hearing Mykonos; heard the latter on Wednesday for the first time.

I've recommended the Fleet Foxes to quite a few folk, all of whom have been bowled over with them.

Only with the Limited/Deluxe CD. There is a standard single disc version that does not include it.

Loved the last 2 songs on the EP but just couldn't get into the album.
