Your budget sounds like 202/250 territory.

BTW, nice speakers. A close friend of mine has some, well good stuff.

Not familiar with the speakers, but if your budget is in US dollars and you want to buy new, the 202/250 combination recommended in the prior post is too expensive. The 202 is $2600 ($3025 w/ PSC); the 250 is $4,250. If you can stretch your budget and want to buy new only, the 202/200 combination is superb (this I am familiar with). The 200 lists for $2550.

Hey Terry,

Do you go to Seattle or Vancouver for your Naim needs?

I live in White Rock, haven't been to Bellis Fair since the Loonie fell below 75 cents in the early 90s.

How are you guys doing down there? Do you get up here much?

Enjoy the sun,

mike.

PS what kind of time frame are you looking at for you purchases?

Mike and All

I know only of one dealer in Seattle called Hawthorne.

I am almost settled on the 250 amp from the 90's vintage ($2450 US). I wonder if a 102 or a 72 with a high cap should follow?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't go to Vancouver much due to the boarder and 911 and all. Things are the same as you remember ay Belles fair.

Do you have a naim dealer Canada side you can recommend?

Terry,

It's a bit too hot today, eh? Will get even hotter this weekend, they say.

Isn't 2450 USD a bit too much to pay for a 90's 250? There's a very late model olive 250 on audiogon going for 2050. Mid 90's models seem to go for ~1500.

The local Naim dealer is Hi-Fi Centre in Vancouver on Seymour street, next door to the A&B Sound. They've got oodles of the newer line on dem.
John Tan is the Naim guy over there.

Mike,

I am sure you are correct regarding the price.....but with a problem with delayed gratification I went ahead and made the following purchase. (I took an ice pick to the Independent retirement account and chiped off $5 K.

102 aproximately 1.5 years old (with a phono card), a high cap lace name plate; and aproximately '97 250. Then, of course 25 foot leads to the speakers with apprpriate end plugs and an approved power strip; correct phono lead. Total cost before tax was 4500.00 US.

SO wahtever the case that is what I did.
I AM STILL INTERESTED ON YOUR THOUGHTS REGARDING THE PRICE. IT WILL HELP DIRECT ME IN THE FUTURE.

Now the fun stuff.

The FIRST 30 minutes of listening it sounded o.k.

After the first 2 hours it was good.

After 5 hours(and subtle change of speaker position from the wall and direction into the room) it SOUNDS VERY GOOD

I WILLL KEEP YOU ABREAST OF WHAT HAPPENS AFTER A DAY OR TWO.

I THANK ALL OF YOU WHO GAVE ME CONSIDERED SUGGESTIONS THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, I AM NEW TO NAIM EQUIPMENT AS OF TWO WEEKS AGO AND I BELEAVE IAM AM STARTING MY JOURNEY AT A GOOD PLACE THAKS TO ALL OF YOU.

SINCERELY

TERRY (SMALL TOWN USA)

Sounds like you bought from a dealer? If so, that sounds about right for a 102/Hi/250/NACA5.

    Enjoy,

    mike.
