It's too late to Stop Now - Van the Man - 2008 reissue

Posted by: User34 on 17 March 2008

Hi,

I've just obtained the latest CD reissue of this album. It remains a good summary of the pre-Veedon Fleece period. A "best of" in many ways.

I find this CD re-issue rather "fierce", i.e, bright.

I played an old, 80s probably (WB green label) pressing of "St Dominic's Preview" this weekend, and found this vinyl copy to be also quite bright.

I'm wondering if I might be better of with the LP of "It's too late to Stop Now". It shouldn't be too dificult to find.

Any recent listeners to CD & LP versions care to comment ?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

I have the SHM CDs of Into The Music & It's Too Late To Stop Now on pre-order.
They release 2008/03/26.

I've got a few of these SHM CDs & have been very happy with them so far.
I'll let you know what I think once I've listened to them.

Cheers - John

I've already bought 2 issues of ITLTSN - the 1980s clamshell one and the mid-90s remaster. I'm quite happy with the latter so I don't really see the point in chasing yet another one.

Of course, and without at all wishing to be smug, the best version of all was the one I saw at Bristol Colston Hall in July 1973 - the month the album was recorded.

smart ass Smile

I've seen VM about 4 times, but not since the early 90s. Once in La, which was a great show and Three times in France, one being particularly boring.

How do you qualify the 90s issue of ITLTSN, in terms of sound quality ?

Post Script: I just gave my lavendar lead a wiggle and a massage, the VM just got woken up!
