n-vi and output resolution

had a demo of n-vi yesterday connected up via dvi to hdmi on a pioneer plasma, could someone explain to me if the n-vi was outputting normal pal or ntsc resolution and that the hd pioneer was doing all the upscaling, as although i thought the pq was very good there seemed to be somthing that was not quite right, although i cant put my finger on the problem

n-Vi outputs native PAL/NTSC DVD resolution. No upscaling (It does de-interlace though).
Probably the screens internal scaler.

John
The standard n-Vi does not upscale. The results should have been very good if it was a current Pioneer plasma. If the dealer was using an external scaler which wasn't setup correctly, you could experience problems. I can't think of anything else which would cause a problem.

thanks for the replys they were not using a scaler, perhaps the image was sharper than i am used to, when i get a n-vi will be using it via component into panny pw6b which will i beleive will downscale the pal signal, am trying to find somewhere where i can demo the nv-i displaying into a sd screen via component, at the moment am using an arcam dv-89

Hi John
I'm runing a DVD5 into a Panasonic pw6b and the picture is stunning. I previously used the arcam dv-88, and their is no comparison.
Dick.
