New speakers... or at ease?

Posted by: Bas V on 23 January 2004

Hi Naimees,

I have been happy with my current system for quite some time now. Currently I have a CD2, nac82, HiCap, nap180 and Monitor Audio Studio 20 SEC's. Last weekend I bought some marble stones for under my speakers and I really like what I am hearing.
I have however had a very good offer on my speakers from someone who really likes them. This made me think of changing speakers, but I don't exactly know if that would be wise. I do remember me hearing the Vienna Acoustics Beethoven on my CD5 and Nait5 and thinking WOW! These speakers were sounding so easy, as if everything you put in them is thrown out with the greatest ease. But, these speakers are too big for my room. I do however think that there are better speakers out there than my MA's for a 'reasonable'price. I was thinking of the SF Cremona Auditor, or perhaps the Electa Amator 2's. But would it be wise? The upgrade would still cost me around 700 UKP and I am thinking whether it's worth the trouble, as I am quite happy right now. Can anyone help me out; am I really missing something with my system? Or is it just that #@%$# bug again...

Regards, Bas

Bas,

If this is the case then why are you thinking of up-grading?

Spend your money on new CD's for your sistem!

If you tell this person who is really interested in your speakers that they are simply not for sale, I am sure you will get a great sense of satisfaction with your system and yourself. Maybe they will up their offer and you can get some JM Labs Grand Utopias, but otherwise I would sit back and enjoy the equilibrium you have reacheed with your existing setup.
