What is your dream car?

Posted by: wellyspyder on 23 April 2006

Mine is the Bugatti Veyron. Just an engineering marvel. Bloody bargain too if you can afford it, as it cost almost 3 times to make than the retail price.

Performance
0-60 2.9 seconds
0-186: 14 seconds

Top Speed: 218(limited) 252 MPH(actual)

Engine
W16
Horsepower: 1001
Torque: 922 ft lbs @5500 rpm

Oh I can dream, alright!

I've driven a 911GT3. That did it for me.

'Reasonably' affordable and easy to drive.
The ultimate 24/7 supercar.

Even so, it is still a magnificent car, despite set backs etc (difficult birth), the final product is a testament to perseverence and engineering marvel. That is the appeal. Supercars are not suppose to be practical as oppose to hi-fi like Naim Audio.

My concern with the Veyron is not that is it not practical it is that the focus on making it 1000bhp has made it heavy and less driveable.

To me a supercar has to be driveable otherwise you cannot exploit all that they have to offer. This is why a 996 GT3, Subaru Spec C, Mitsi Evo IX FQ-340 will leave most supercars for dead over real world roads.

So the F1 remains my ultimate supercar - and don't forget it managed 242mph so is only a tad slower than the Veyron flat out and would be faster more of the time Smile

Dream car 1 - already have it, a Caterham 7 Superlight

Dream car 2 - don't have and may never due to wife restricting me to two cars at a time - VW Beetle cabriolet

I have no interest in dreaming about supercars.

My dream car would be one that costs nothing, runs on air and repairs the damage to the environment as you drive it, navigates and drives automatically - so you can be pissed, takes no room at all on the roads because it travels in another dimension, folds up so you can put it in your pocket and don't have to leave it parked anywhere. It would be impossible to steal it and it would be impossible to crash and cause injury. It wouldn't look interesting so wouldn't have any value other than its function.
Until that day, I'll have an Aston Martin DB9 please.

Hi Rasher!
Sorry but could not resist....................
Smile
Anyway what you described is the perfect car!
hehehehe
Not so far from my idea of car anyway.
The red thing that populate my garage is a money sucker evenif it's only a 1.2
The more i live the more i think that spending money on fuel, that inevitably goes burned, is a waste.
Here in Italy we also have different brands advertising their fuel!
Crazy!
They really must get too much from our pockets if they can afford to spend tons of money on national advertise canpaigns.
Cheers

Well no, it isnt really. No common parts at all. Even the bore spacing is different, I recall. Not built one the same line either.

"based on"offes a lot of latitude...I was quoting the early press releases..and as you know, if you read it on the internet it must be true..

McLaren F1 please... it seats three, so it's eminently practical.

Barring that, Acura NSX.
