What is your dream car?

Posted by: wellyspyder on 23 April 2006

Mine is the Bugatti Veyron. Just an engineering marvel. Bloody bargain too if you can afford it, as it cost almost 3 times to make than the retail price.

Performance
0-60 2.9 seconds
0-186: 14 seconds

Top Speed: 218(limited) 252 MPH(actual)

Engine
W16
Horsepower: 1001
Torque: 922 ft lbs @5500 rpm

Oh I can dream, alright!

Gianluigi,

You are absolutely right of course, that is why I want one.

my mummy used to tell me that the first word I ever said was "auto". I once spent over 10 minutes sitting on the stairs listening to the car chase from 'Bullitt' that was playing on the neighbour's television.

Obviously, the last thing I'd ever need is a penis extension, but there used to be a TVR Cerbera nearby my home that I liked. I have the impression the more recent Cerbera was a bit more puffed up and it came with those ugly small halogen lights(okay, so that's probably optional).

A beefed up Citroёn ID21 would be nice

I still like cars, but I'm not inclined to spend money on them.

I would settle for a fully restored Datsun 260Z with certain mods (exhaust, engine and triple Dellortos).

Gianluigi,

The E Type is a dream, but I did own one of these once, a Triumph GT 6 Mk2 (baby E Type).

It broke my heart when some nutter rear ended me and wrote it off. The whiplash was pretty painful too. No scanner at the moment so I cannot copy my old photos of it, but it looked like this one, same colour too.

Had one, want another.

Sorry about the number plate not mine.

If you want involvement and 911 baiting performance for peanuts get one.

Had one too - got banned for six months for speeding......it was an empty dual carriageway and I didn't spot the unmarked car I passed at the top of the hill before nailing it.....bugger!!

Would still buy another one though, if only just for the vtec engine - what a noise!! Handled great too - light and extremely chuckable.

Others on my list would be.....

M5 - latest one with HUD and M button
Diablo Jotta - in deep purple
Porsche - anything really...except a Cayenne, but any real ones of the 911 variety would be nice
RS6 Avant - for something with a big boot
Oh, and a McLaren F1 too please

We can but dream......

Cheers,
Ali

Ciao Gianluigi,

I'm not much of a purist when it comes to cars so I would have an e-type for it's stunning looks but I would have modern running gear. There are companies that specialise in this and although very expensive one would get one hell of a car for your money.

Regards,

Erik

Ciao dear Erik!
For the money i have i think i could get only, and not for sure, the coachwork of it.
And under the bonnet a brand new foot-pedal engine!
Big Grin

Ciao!

Richard..

Weird, my dream is the one sat right behind it, c/w a Dino v6, but alas, I would never fit in it either, let alone afford it.

You going this year? tickets selling just a tad quickly.

My (learning to drive daughter) would love one of these

Which would be fine if it didn't have this in the back seat.

The new Volvo S80, 4,4l V8, 315bhp, 4WD, Dynaudio Eek Razz Smile soundsystem. I could use one!

Or the new Audio S6 Avant Winker

Thanks Hammerhead.
THe Grapewine says that it's a marvel to drive!
I has a very compact V8 (made by Yamaha), same engine as in the XC90 V8 model.
There will also be a new 3.2l straight 6 cylinder engine (also very compact= better deformation zones if you('re) hit (by) something).
So, maybe I'll change car before 2010 (A new Volvo V70 is due in 2008).

Jon,

Looks a bit like this one that I was fortunate enough to drive from Newcastle to Manchester once. Belonged to a mate of mine (now sold), who also has a very nice old SL500.

To echo Eric's previous comment, old cars like this are real head turners and great fun, but bloody hard work to drive especially at any speed. The Aston weighs a ton and weaves all over the road, which is a hairy experience.

My vantage (for it is so) doesnt weave around the road at all... suggests some dodgy suspension bushes to me :-)

Sorry about the parking <blush>
