Latest SBL...?
Posted by: jpk73 on 08 June 2001
How old ist the latest SBL-version with all the improvements like new cabinet-maunfacturer, new stand-tubing, new bass-driver and updated PAXO?
When was the last change/update and how can I identify?
Thank you, Jun
Later cabinets are easily identified by checking the rear - they have veneer (matching the rest of the cabinet finish) as well. Before that they were Black painted.
PAXO went from NACA4 to NACA5 many, many moons ago.
Early drivers had a pressed steel surround, the later (Naim manufactured) unit is easily recognised by the appearance of a flat plate.

A Friend offers me SBL to try, but I don't know the age... Serial-no is 16xxxx, another pair is 74xxx
Thanks for any hint, Jun
Does anybody know when the last update was made to the SBL?
Or is there any detailled SBL-history on the net?
Jun

Why not take him up on it?
If the 16xxxx is correct they are fairly recent, and you should be able to tell by looking at the older pair whether the drivers have been replaced - what exactly are you trying to find out?

I just wanted to know if the 16xxxx is the latest version...
Thanks, Jun
s/n's are already on the Naim website - there's nothing quite like duplication of information to suck up storage space in the ether!
