Saved from a dusty death

Having just spent another challenging weekend at my mother’s house, the day was saved by finding a stack of old vinyl hiding in the top of the hall cupboard.

Amongst the haul were 2 boxed sets of classical recordings from Deusche Gramophone. One was a Brahms selection and the other a Herbert Von K and the Berlin Philharmonic doing the following Mozart symphonies 32 and 35 to 42.

All in great condition and sounding like new. I just need to get the Beethoven back from a distant relation and I shall be made up.

Anyone else had similar finds in relatives’ houses?

I wish I had. Maybe I need to visit more. Nice find.

I rescued around 300 vinyl LPs from my Dad's shed a few months back.

Amongst them were around 100 classical recordings, 60-70 jazz and the rest rock/pop.

Unplayed for around 17-18 years, unfortunately most are in poor condition although most are not warped.

I'm going to try and find a good record cleaning service, though. Got to be worth it!

I have just bought a £150 car from a friend of a friend, who knew I listened to music, so on collecting the car and the receipts for over £200 that she had just spent getting it MOT'ed for me, she also gave me her collection of maybe 80 records, all in very good to mint condition - roughly 50 are records I would have bought at some stage, 20 are records I have worn copies of, and there are a few I don't know.
Result or what !
Might be a good way to tst out my soon-to-arrive record cleaning machine..!
AND - the car is brilliant too !

Steve

Let us know when you get it and what the results are like. I am wondering whether they are worth the investment, especially in light of my acquisitions as per the post above.

I've got a Moth RCM, but it is very noisy and I very rarely use it - it does work though if you persevere.

Why do you have to persevere, ROTF, are they a pain to use?
