Dedicated Mains for Euro Sockets

Posted by: Peter Stockwell on 14 August 2001

I've done a search on mains and had a look over some of the posts related to dedicated mains lines. Seems like a spur is the way to go. Could anybody specifically advise me about what I need to tell an electrician,in France, to get a dedicated spur installed in the appartment to which I'll be moving soon.

"S'il vous plait, installez un spur unique pour moi."

Sorry, couldn't resist. I have no idea.

took me a few seconds to get the joke .... roll eyes

Seriously, what do I a have to tell 'le sparky' about cable dimensions (6mm, 10mm?) and the circuit breaker amp rating ?

Peter,

Try looking at the following thread by Mick Parry when he was having a dedicated line installed as it contains plenty of info...

Lorenz,

Thanks for the French vocabulary. I can't install a separate spurr in the apartment I'm living in, but I'm sure I will need these French terms in the near (I hope) future. Now at least I know what to ask for.

Merci!

Lorenz,

As one who speaks a reasonable running phrenche, thanks for the necessary technical terms, because I certainly have holes in my hifi vocabulary. I don't wish to direct wire the extension block to the mains, so I'll guess I have to make do with a standard outlet, unless there's something else I can specify ?
