NAPV 145

Why is the new mono 145 given the V (for video?) designation. Although from the description it sounds as if it is a replacement for the 135 and suitable for more than just video applications the "V" designation suggests othewise. Is there something different about this amp that distinguishes it from others that don't have the "V" designation? The three channel 175 was an obvious candidate for video applications but I am puzzled by the 145 "V".

Paul,

the "V" designation came about because the NAPV145 was designed to fill the requirement for a very high quality centre channel amplifier to get the very best performance out of our Axess and Axent centre channel speakers. Of course there's nothing to stop you using the NAPV145 as mono amps in a stereo set-up or even having seven of them in a 7.1 HT set-up!

I guess the next question will be how do they compare with other amps in the range and to their spiritual forebears....? Well, the biggest fly in the ointment for stereo use is that the NAP 300 is a better performer at only a slightly higher cost. Otherwise, the NAPV145s outperform the earlier NAP 135s.
