Thomas Dolby Remasters

Posted by: badlyread on 11 July 2009

Just to let you know that the remasters of 'The Golden Age of Wireless' and 'The Flat Earth' are released on Monday 13th July. The GAOW is the original track listings that has, to my knowledge, never been available on CD (The Wreck of the Fairchild included). There are lots of additional tracks available on both CDs. I'm confident that Thomas will have done an excellent job behind the desk.

Regards

Absolutely, one of the best sounding re-masters of anything I've bought. The extra tracks are nothing terribly special but at least you get some added value.

The other re-master I've bought that made a huge impression was the Prefab Sprout 'Steve McQueen' pack. Produced by one T Dolby of course.

Agree on the extra tracks.
Was looking at the Steve McQueen pack as well, I'm a fan of PS but I'm only familiar with one album (it was called Two Wheels Good in the USA to avoid issues with Steve's estate).
That one is on the list and will get it soon.

Agreed. I really like the acoustic versions as well. Have you seen that the demo's of The Prefab Sprout album that was to come out after Jordan is being released. Its called 'lets heal the world with music'. Poor old Paddy seems to suffer with his health these days but an album of 'new' material is always more than welcome. I trawl the Megahertz is a gorgeous album BTW.

And one of a select band of albums that are just about unique. I love it - never tire of listening to it.

OK, so with all these recs it is going higher on my list.
Thanks!

Hi Gary,

This is one of the albums I bought on your recommendation but couldn't quite get into. Possibly it's because it requires attention from start to finish and I rarely have 40mins or so free to do that. I need to learn to relax more.

Still awaiting a response from Alex re the 17th

Got The Flat Earth over the weekend - very good (not quite as good as Wireless but piles better than Aliens). Excellent sound with good bonus tracks. Thanks for the rec people.

Dave, late night, lights out (or a few lava lamps), a mellowing drink.
