QANTAS A 380 arrives at Sydney
Posted by: DAVOhorn on 20 September 2008
Dear All,
The A380 has just passed overhead.
Fortunately QANTAS overseas maintainance has not had an opportunity to bugger it up so seemed to be flying straight and level.
It was an amazing sight and incredibly quiet, quieter than anything else that uses my little home as a reference point for landing at Sydney.
regards David

We walked passed the Singapore airlines 380 at L/HR when we came back from San Fran, it does not look that much bigger than a Jumbo on the ground, I have not seen it in the air yet.

I still prefer ships and slow trains! I also hate large crowds!
Going on an aeroplane is something that has always made me nervous, as in the event of some - and I know this is statistically unlikely - disaster, I fancy that a sinking ship is preferable as you hit the water very much slower!
I never understood the so called crash position! Who wants to be kissing their own backside whilst hitting the ground or the sea at five hundred miles an hour!

Dear Howard,
Even on a ship, I tend to be outside on deck, especially if is night time or rough. I love it in the cold night air on a ship!
I catch a sleep if it is calm in the day time!
I would never go on a ro-ro-ro [roll-on, roll-off, roll-over] ferry! Only real ships with proper fronts and backs for me!

If one is unfortunate to be on a sinking ship ones methods of demise are not preferable to slamming into the ground at 600mph.
Lets see:
Taking several hours to drown.
Taking several hours to die of hypothermia
Taking several days to die of thirst in the liferaft
Taking several days to die of malnutrition, sun exposure, cold etc etc in the lifeboat.
HHHMMMMMMM
I hate flying and prefer sea travle.
You get a cabin with a bed
You can have sex with your significant other
You can have a shower
Eat in a resteaurant Bar etc etc.
The only flying has to offer is SPEED.

Dear Dave,
Sea means for me either the North Sea or the Channel! Being lost for days in these relative puddles in unlikely.
I guess that crossing the Atlantic for me is most unlikely, and if I did I would probable face using an aeroplane for it. There is no regular service in passenger shipping these days, and I certainly could not get long enough off work for it to be possible.
Perhaps the sea going passenger should take a wet-suit. More use than a parashute on an passenger aeroplane I suspect!

Yes, now you can get it all without having to squeez into a tiny bathroom.
