where next with old but cherished?

current system; 32.5, Snaps,160,CD2,IBL mk 1. Just got the IBLs and love em! I've had the 160 for 20 years and we're very attached so no suggestions I get rid.
I am toying with the idea of going active. Is it possible to go active with something like a 110 with my 160. I know that the standard configuration of an actve crossover would indicate no but can they be modified so that the 160 drives the bass and the 110 drives the treble and if so which crossover/s. I realise this flies in the face of received wisdom but I would love to hear from anyone out there who has gone down a similar route.

This doesn't answer your going active question (I have no clue, but others will), but if I were in your shoes, I would consider either dual-railing the SNAPS, or better yet - buying a Hi-Cap. Also, you could 72 your 32-5.

Hi Bob,
Have you had the kit serviced by Naim? I had my 32.5/hi/135s (1984/5s) done at one time and the improvement was large.... They're gone now
What type of stand/fixtures are you using?
BTW, Welcome to the forum.
Cheers,

Doesn't fully answer your question but; last year I had a twenty year old 160 serviced and upgraded. (It gets a 180 p/s). Very pleased with the improvement. I have a bit of a soft spot for the 160, as I started out with one 20 years ago.
It's currently boogieing away into Linn Saras in my 'study' system. I also had a 32.5 upgraded to 72 spec.
Cost me £350 for the pair. No complaints. This system gets more use than the 'big one'.
A CD5 and Flatcap 2 (powering 32.5 and CD5) provides the front end.

I am not certain if bolt together case 160's can be serciced. I do think the extruded case ones can be. Check with Naim service for information.

I don't see any reason why naim could not service any vintage 160, well worth doing. I can't answer
the active question but I would aim to get a hicap to replace the snaps, this is a great upgrade.

Richard,
Please let me know if you wish to part with a 110. I had one years ago and have regretted letting it go.
Thanks
David
