Remote control for pre-amp

Got a remote like this with my CD2 (1996) but I cant get it to operate input selection on my 52 (1994) or 92r (1996) although my CDS1 (1994) remote will. Why is this? Is it because its a later Flash compatible remote?:

My remote somtimes fails to operate successfully, and I've found that the battery contacts seem to get a build up of oxide or dirt? on the ends, if you just clean the contact areas you may find that sort's out your problems.

You press the numeric buttons for source, ie 1=phono, 2=cd etc Roll Eyes

'Intuitive' to one person is 'WDF?' to another.

Remember, our favored hifi equipment manufacturer gave us little black boxes, preamps without a power cord that fits inthe wall, and DIN connectors. Their 'intuitive' may be somewhat West of normal people's.
