What brings you joy?

I'll kick this one off...
For me at the moment ...
Work stopped five minutes ago, Friday 3.30pm, and won't start again until Monday 12noon. So, almost three whole days - my first break since October '06 - to be spent (1) eldest daughter's birthday party this afternoon/evening; (2) collecting my freshly-serviced 82 tomorrow morning; (3) Twickers on Sunday for what could potentially be the greatest ever game of club football - with Chillkram and JamieWednesday and hopefully finding a way of meeting up withBrian Moore Flyfisher too.
The only spoiler is the blo*dy trains being up the shoot, so it's lemonade 'cos of having to drive...
I wish you all joy too.
James

You are obviously showing your tender years. Mr Pig was an obnoxioius creature who literally polluted hifi fora many years ago. If you criticised Mana in particular, you got an absolute mouthful.
Fortunately he is now history.
Actually Fredrik, you posting demonstrates how fast hifi fora moves on. Mr Pig was one of the top contributors (a total misuse of the word if ever there was one) a few years ago, and now we have an instance where a regular such as you appears never to have heard of him. Just shows how time change.

Same here. I'm sat reading this still in my sweaty running gear having just got back from a nice long Sunday morning run with a few mates from the running club. 12 miles of cross country, covered in mud and cow shit, itching from stinging nettles all over my legs...Ahhh! You just can't beat it.

Sounds like Judy Ledden's remark after mountaineering training to prepare her to carry her hang glider up a mountain...

Seeing my son born and the tears of joy running down my face
Spending time with all my children particularly when i'm not stressed and tired and can appreciate them better.
When the children come out with a 'pearler' such as "mummy i'm a Rhinopotamous"
The power my children have to make me cry both with joy and with sadness.
To read to my children, especially 'Cops and robbers (of London Town)' They nearly know all the words now.
When all the children are asleep.
When I have protected and kept my children from harm
My wife's selflessness, beauty and presence
Our lovely house
Accomplishing a good piece of work with a child/young person which helps them move forward
Gardening
Watching the birds in the garden
Music
Reading (in silence)
Sleep
Drinking with friends
Summer
I'm sure there is more

As a grown up there is only two sources of joy that I can think of:
- Getting a new car.
- Getting a new girlfriend.
It seems the second one is actually in the pipeline for me right now!

My two children doing nice things, together and as a family.
Wife in a good mood despite the f**k-wits next door.
The dog, but not after chewing iPod.
Unexpected and half remembered tunes coming on the iPod in shuffle mode.
Very high speed hills ridden down on my bicycle.
Loud music and dancing.

I'd like to hear that too. Is there a video to go with it?
Did you hear Lloyd Webber discussing her prowess at oral sex on Jonathan Ross?

Does she sing any better when she half sloshed? I some how doubt it.
At least she shouldn't be able to "sing" whilst giving "oral".

I would have to be more than half sloshed to listen to Sarah Brightman - her impersonations of an opera singer are particularly painful.

Sarah Brightman, singer. I thought singer had two meanings! As she cannot sing [and apparently likes ugly older men] then the term must mean the other thing in her case!
Where does that leave Anna Mutter - she is a fiddler and married Mr Preview...?

Today brought a new potential music lover into the world.
I now have a son, a baby brother for my daughter.
Lots of credit goes to my Missus.

My first daughter wouldn't sleep at night (we now know she was just hungry - it was our fault) so I'd put her in the sling and walk the streets from around 2.00am to 5.00 am, then go to work. I did that for 10 months practically every night - and I loved it. It was me and her and city asleep, and they were special times. I was almost sorry when my son and latest daughter slept 12 hours straight through from the start - we would do a feed that took 10 minutes max and they were asleep again.
Sleep deprivation? Nah...not necessarily. My youngest daughter (1 year old) sleeps from 7.30pm until we have to wake her in the morning!!

The (real French) French Market that pulled up in my little East Anglian burgh today. Sadly couldn't get to the 'hole in the wall', so was limited to a few quids' worth of various olives and some cheese. But even so, what JOY...

What you didn't feed her for 10 months? No wonder she cried.

I've upset the owner of the French Market in the past by suing him for a generator of ours he lost!

Reminds me of my favorite cartoon ever:
caption: James Joyce's refrigerator
image: old refrigerator with "to-do" list stuck to the door.
text of list:
things to do today
1. Buy groceries.
2. Pick up laundry.
3. Forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.
4. Call mom.
