I was lying on the sofa last night flicking through the channels, and after watching the end of Celebrity Fit Club, which I found very difficult not to watch for reasons I as yet haven't understood, I found Delia on a cooking channel. Celeb Fat Club ended with a lesson on hidden fats and cholesterol and how to avoid nasties, such as eggs and obvious animal fats. When I found Delia, she was making some sort of stodgy treacle pudding, and the first thing she said that I heard was "....and as this is full of butter and fat anyway, why not finish it off with some real Jersey double cream", at which point she took a large pot in her herby-sausage-like fingers and poured the whole lot over it, all in a nice sickly yellow close up. The contrast between the programmes would put your jaw on the floor.
I look at cooking programmes sometimes because I genuinely like cooking, but Delia just always adds a slab of lard just for good measure on anything. Of all the TV cooks (I couldn't call her a chef), she is the one that I just can't bear.
I think her performance on the trerraces confirms that she lives in another age in another mentality to mine.
If I see a bunch of Chavs on the street eating fat-burgers on a street corner, I will call that "doing a Delia".
I know that's unfair, but I can't stand her.

Rasher,
I under stand that in high profile professions one has to have some means of ensuring that the constant mental pressure that one is subjected to by the requirment of others inability to perform their tasks on time and to contract requires one to have some form of mental chewing gum, but your choice of veiwing causes me great concern. For a small fee you can have the use of my couch and the benefit of my experance gained over the years I have had to deal with the problems caused by this kind of self induced masochistic tendancies. We will have time to discus Cool Big Grinthe prognosis is a short course of the products from Doctor ALE for instant relief. Oldie,

Maybe it was Dr Ale or one of his relatives that precipitated the outburst - I think she was at a football match, but she appeared to refer to is as "Fuzz Bol" - so be careful, as it seems more than enough prognosis may be too much.

Yeldarb,
I must admitt to have not seen, said cook
performing either in front of the home "range" or at the football, or "fuzz bol" match [ I tend to turn off, both myself and the box[ I think that there are more important things going on in the world ,than this opiate for the masses Roll Eyes ] when twenty two or so, grossly over paid talentless knuckle dragging morons approach a field with a ball]but I think it was more likly the fact that her shares in the company Norwich dis United or what ever the are called was in jeopardy Big Grin. Shall I start running now!!

Oldie old Chum, When the minimum wage subject arose in the house today, you came to mind for some reason ? I think it was subliminaly (and claret inspired) re-creating important posts that you've sent in the past re: Social justice etc, and the fighting for it/them/those, that can't do it for themselves ?

Graham,
Thank you for such praise,[ not really deserved imho] my blushes are such that the normal type of illumination is no longer required to night in the oldie house hold, but on a more important note, let us hope that the kind of debate you mention can, and will carry on, in this "new Forum". But,and no disrespect intended to anyone, a lot of the Stalwarts of fair play and justice, unfortunatly seem to have gone, for reasons I can only ponder on,Very sad!!!

I have just noticed, not I feel I must point out though , that I'm a post counter or collector
