Has anyone updated their Uniti? If so, how did it go and what improvements and new features have you discovered?

Would love to have mine updated! But the local dealer is still trying to get their heads round the update process. Most frustrating, I know I can do it myself if the files are made available!!!!

I agree - I struggle to understand why I need to take my Uniti to a Dealer to apply a firmware update. Is it really so difficult to apply a firmware update to a Uniti compared to any other piece of hardware?

I think we should have the choice as to whether upgrade the firmware ourselves or taking it to your local Dealer.

My thoughts too.
Not only can my Roberts Stream 83i radio play 24/44 Flac, pause a uPnP stream, start playing the next uPnP track soon after the last one has finished and show how far through a track it is. It can also update its firmware via its Ethernet connection!

I've always felt that with any firmware update, it would be fair for the manufacturers to say ... "We recommend that this update is carried out by our dealers at no cost, however here are the instructions and the files required for you to do yourself. If you mess up the installation then your dealer may charge you (a reasonable amount) to correct your mistakes".

And that goes for all manufacturers not just Naim.

I took my Uniti and HDX this afternoo to the dealer, he made both updates, the HDX took about an hour. Will report back, when I have my first impressions, esp. on the HDX-Update

Except that the retailer CANNOT fix the problem if it goes south by your hand.

Embedded OS firmware and desktop OS software are two separate beasts.
