What's the FIRST vinyl you ever bought?

Rainbow - Kill the King. Glad to see my musical tastes have moved on in the intervening 23 years.
Cheers

The soundtrack to Goldfinger. I played it over and over on our old Webcor console. When I was time to turn it down, I would end up listening to the ceramic cartridge needle talk so as not to wake up the household. I still have that LP. It is the worse for wear, but I purchased a couple of better copies of it when I got my first Sondek. I loved the John Barry Bond soundtracks. They still sound pretty good today.

"I get Around" c/w "Don't Worry baby" on a Capitol 45. Not counting the Roy Orbison-alike version of "Pretty Woman" on the Embassy label that my mother bought me at Woolies, in the belief that I wouldn't know the difference!

Two of my first abum were bought at the American PX in West berlin in 1965, "The Rolling Stones Now" and a Beatles album containing things like "Matchbox" issued by Capitol.

If memory serves the Beatles album was called "Something New by the Beatles".

The first vinyls I, age 9, in 1962, ever bought were 78's(!!!) of "Tequila Rock" by the Champs(?) and "Peppermint Twist (Parts I & II)" by Joey Dee & the Starlighters (also ?...memory is fading)...these improbable lacquers were obtained at a shop in Lahore, W. Pakistan (in Gulberg Circle) that also sold cabinet record-player/radios and sewing machines. Although not that long ago, the memory seems positively Kiplingesque now. Later family hols in New Delhi garnered EMI India pressings of With The Beatles and A Hard Day's Night, which began my slow descent into rock'n'roll bohemia.

First vinyl (given): "Muppet show volume 1" (which I still have.
Realistically, this (for me) should be "first tape" though, as my parents' TT was awful, and I was actually "scared" of using vinyl (due to damaging it, breaking the needle, it getting stuck) for years! So:
First tape album: "NOW 10" (got given "NOW 5", 2 years previously)
First cassingle: "Sacrifice/Healing hands" by Elton John.
My taste then went rapidly downhill when I followed up the Elton John cassingle with, ahem, Craig McLachlan and Check 1:2's "Mona" - d'oh! (of which, I also have "Do the Bartman" - will it never end!?)

First vinyl was either "The Best of The Guess Who" (by The Guess Who of course!) or "Get Ready" by Rare Earth.
First 8-track (!) was "Innagoddadavida" (sp?) by Iron Butterfly. Funny how that self-indulgent drum solo crossed tracks and the player would "cerchunk" in the middle of one phrase...

It certainly was - Ipswich 1 Arsenal 0 - with a 72nd minute goal by Roger Osborne. What wonderful memories. Now we lose 4-0 at home to Preston and were lucky to get 0.

Yup guilty as charged. As Tubilah Dog we toured with the Hawks for quite a while as guests. Dave asked me to sing on a coupe of tracks with them live. We also played with Hawkwind as Hawkdog or The Agents of Chaos which was usually the Dogs plus Dave and Harvey Bainbridge.

Stevedog, great... I saw them live a couple of times in Leeds in the late 80s and in Glasgow in the early 90s.
I've just noticed the dog connection in your various band names, forum name etc.

Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2, Julius Katchen, mono version conducted by Fistoulari. Still got it, and I don't think it has ever been bettered.
Before that, I bought shellac 78's - Now that makes me really old!
