Unreleased Smiths tracks CD

Posted by: Shayman on 06 February 2006

Hi all

Read yesterday (teletext Red Face) that Rhino records in the States are preparing a CD of unreleased Smiths tracks at somepoint this year.

Anyone know what might be on it, what songs Rhino have the rights to, or have any further info on this release? Hopefully not just the Troy Tate stuff again

Interesting, if true.

I did hear somewhere that Smiths remasters were going to be released but have seen no indication of this happening.

The Smiths in talks over new album

The Smiths could be set to release an album of rarities later this year if they can reach an agreement with their American publishing company.

The legendary band have refused to hand over a number of unheard tracks to their UK publishing company Warner Bros because the group were unhappy about compilation albums being released without their approval.

However, Rhino Records, who publish The Smiths' records in the USA, are currently in talks with members of the group over putting out a new compilation some time in 2006.

It is not clear what tracks would be included on the record, but a 12-minute version of 'The Queen is Dead' is likely to be featured.
